THE DATA GARDEN: A new series of posts...

Over the past few months, to celebrate the launch of my book, "The Data Garden And Other Data Allegories", I've been posting free excerpts of some of its chapters on LinkedIn, on a weekly basis.

I recently realised that only people with access to LinkedIn would be able to see these posts, so I have decided to re-post them here too.

The plan is to post more regularly here (every two or three days), until I've caught up with where I got to on LinkedIn, at which point I'll synchronise the posts so that every week the same content will be published on this site and on LinkedIn at the same time.

So, here's what's coming soon:


THE SIX ALLEGORIES OF THE DATA GARDEN...

The first will provide a summary of all the stories in the book "The Data Garden And Other Data Allegories": I've provided an overview of the topics that they cover and the metaphors they use to bring data management concepts to life.


FREE EXCERPTS...

Next, I will publish free excerpts from 3 chapters of the book. In each case, I will publish the chapter in bits, and then once all parts of a chapter has been posted, I will publish a final post, which pulls together all of these bits into one place, so you can read the whole chapter in one go.


THE DATA GARDEN...

I'll start with the first chapter of the book, titled "The Data Garden". I received some really positive feedback when I posted this on LinkedIn, which was what led me to decide to publish two more chapters for free, too.


THE DATA LITERACY DRIVING SCHOOL...

Next I'll publish the chapter titled "The Data Literacy Driving School". I'm still in the process of publishing this in bits on LinkedIn, so will publish this in sections on a regular basis, up until I 'catch up' with the LinkedIn posts, and then the posts will move to weekly to synchronise with LinkedIn.  Given that all of the stories in the book have been written to support greater data literacy, I thought this would be a good chapter to share next...


THE DATA ARCHITECTURE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT...

Several people have told me that "The Data Architecture Construction Project", is their favourite chapter, especially the bit with the sticky plaster flyover... so I had to share this one next!
