About

My name is Paul Daniel Jones, and I have been working on and around large-scale data management programmes since 2004. I have set up Chief Data Offices, run global data management teams, served as a Data Protection Officer, and led a few projects that were genuinely pioneering and many that were hard (in some cases people thought impossible, until I managed to prove them wrong!) Both taught me more than the successes alone would have.

I now lead Baringa Partners' data and AI work with banks, which means I spend my working life recovering failing data programmes, building and transforming data teams, and putting hard questions to boards and executive committees about how they deliver real value in a safe way.

And this is the kind of thing I write books about . Some books are practical guides; some are stories, because a story will travel to places a framework never reaches; and everything I publish comes out of real-world experience and practice rather than theory. I have lots of opinions, and write my books and other content to share those views, in a way that I hope will help.
